Details of Joe Biden's diagnosis
The news broke on Sunday, May 18, 2025, when a statement from Biden’s personal office confirmed that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
The statement revealed that Biden was initially evaluated after experiencing worsening urinary symptoms.
“Last week, Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the official release stated.
While the diagnosis reflects a severe form of the disease, there was some reassurance provided:
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management.”
At 82 years old, Biden and his family are now actively consulting with his medical team to determine the best course of treatment.
