What is the cost of Jeff Bezos' wedding?

The three-day event will reportedly be one of the most expensive weddings in history.

According to Reuters, the budget is set at $55.6 million, which is approximately a whopping KSh 7.2 billion, which has not impressed many.

As much as it is a union between two high-profile people, it has also been seen as a spectacle of opulence, as the event will span three days, with private arrivals and welcome parties.

According to CNN, the celebrations kicked off on Thursday, and the main celebration is set for Saturday, June 28, at the historic Arsenale, a 15th-century shipyard.

Who are some of the celebrity guests at Jeff Bezos' wedding?

The billionaire and his future wife are said to be expecting around 200 to 250 guests at the event, with many of them celebrity stars from the USA.

They are reportedly being hosted across five hotels, said to be the most exclusive ones in the area, including Hotel Cipriani on Giudecca Island.

Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner arrived for the event alongside celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Usher, Orlando Bloom, Tom Brady, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Gates and many others.

Guests were ferried through the city's iconic canals in 30 private water taxis rented for the three days, with some even staying longer.

The couple is also demanding that their guests respect a strict rule: they are not allowed to carry their phones to a mystery island party.

With the budget set at KSh 7.2 billion, it is said that each guest’s cost will reach up to KSh 6.2 million, reflecting the scale of the event.

Bezos reportedly donated KSh 129 million to the city through various charitable foundations dedicated to architectural and cultural preservation.

A wedding invitation that leaked also urged the guests not to bring gifts, as the couple has vowed to donate to charities on their behalf.

The wedding will go ahead despite activists criticising the extravagance, with a large portrait stating that if Bezos can afford such a wedding, he can pay higher taxes.

When did Jeff Bezos propose to Lauren?

Around two years ago, TUKO.co.ke reported that Bezos proposed to his lover, which was said to have happened on his yacht.

Bill Gates was one of Bezos' friends present at the engagement, which took place in Pisitano, Italy.

The couple ensured that the event was so private that no photo leaked at the time she said "Yes, I will", but photos of other guests and attendees were leaked.
