Antony speaks on Man United experience
Antony has opened up about his struggles at Manchester United, a revelation that brought tears to his eyes. Since his loan move earlier this year, the winger has been thriving at Real Betis after failing to secure a place at Old Trafford.
He joined the Red Devils in 2022 and was seen as a long-term starter on their right wing. Despite a decent first season, he regressed drastically and lost his place in the starting line-up.
He registered just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances for Man United before he was moved to Betis.
In an interview with TNT Sports Brazil, Antony said the move helped him.
"[Coming to Betis] changed a lot because I needed to find myself, because of everything I went through in my personal life," he said.
"I went through difficult times [at United] when I no longer felt that pleasure. I even always told my brother, I told him that I couldn't take it any more...Only I know what it was like to be there at home, not having the strength to even play with my son, going days without eating, staying locked in my room."
The Brazilian has been reborn in Spain with nine goals, helping Betis reach the UEFA Conference League final.
Ruben Amorim will likely be pleased if the club sells Antony permanently and secures funds for a suitable replacement

Is Antony Man United's worst signing?
Antony joined Manchester United in 2022 from Ajax for €95 million (KSh 13.9 billion). He scored on his debut against Arsenal, but his performances soon declined, drawing the attention of fans.
Antony’s performances coincided with the club’s loss of form. Erik ten Hag began to bench him, and he never regained his place. This was followed by widespread criticism.
He is the club's second-most expensive player after Paul Pogba, and he has probably played his last game for Man United.
Jadon Sancho, the club's fourth most expensive player, has yet to live up to expectations and might be considered among the worst signings post-Sir Alex Ferguson.
Romelu Lukaku, Rasmus Hojlund, Angel Di Maria, and Andre Onana are considered flops.
