Manchester United lost to Tottenham to end their season in disappointing fashion. Brennan Johnson's goal was the difference between the two sides in Bilbao.

What did Alejandro Garnacho post before Europa League final?

Garnacho started the game on the bench, a decision that seemingly did not go down well with the Argentine. Amorim opted for a front three of Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo.

The teenager took to his Instagram stories before the match and posted throwback photos from last season's FA Cup final.

He was among the goals at Wembley Stadium as they surprisingly beat Manchester City to qualify for the Europa League.

There was no indication that his post had a direct bearing on his omission from the starting XI, but players often know in advance who will be starting a game.

Chief Manchester United writer for the Manchester Evening News, Samuel Luckhurst, said,

"Garnacho clearly not taken it well, given a(nother) passive-aggressive social media post referencing his FA Cup final goal last season. He's still on the pitch speaking to Sergio Reguilon.

What did Garnacho's brother say about Amorim?

His brother, Roberto Garnacho, added fuel to the fire by dragging Amorim online. Garnacho only played for 19 minutes as United attempted to claw their way back into the game.

"Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 minutes and get thrown under the bus. Wow hahahahahaha."

Garnacho had a decent opportunity after coming on, forcing a smart save from Guglielmo Vicario, but couldn't do anything more to salvage the situation.

It is not the first time Garnacho has had a fallout with Amorim. Back in December, he was one of the two players, alongside Marcus Rashford, to be dropped by the Portuguese coach.

While Rashford was eventually loaned out, Garnacho worked his way back into Amorim's good graces.

Garnacho slams Amorim after Europa League final

He was one of the Manchester United players who faced the media after the game, and he didn't mince his words.

"Our season was (expletive). We don’t beat anyone in the league. I've played every round until I reached the final, but I only played 20 minutes today. I'll enjoy the summer and then we'll see," he said.

Should Garnacho have started Europa League final?

Manchester United fans gave contrasting opinions on Amorim's selection, with some supporting Garnacho.

SubbCV said,

"He has a point to be fair. Imagine playing every week throughout the season just for Mount to take your place in the most important game of the season."

Ragnarok said,

"In a must-win game, you leave one of your best attacking threats on the bench. What was Amorim thinking when starting Mount in a must-win game? He always used Mount as a sub. Amorim, Luke Shaw, and Onana cost us this game."

While Ben didn't agree,

"This family is too entitled. Garnacho is too inconsistent to warrant the ego he has built up. If we cared about moving forward as a club, we should think about cashing in on him for the right price."

Alejandro Garnacho's stats this season

The 20-year-old has made 58 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 11 times and assisting a further 10 according to Transfermarkt statistics. Of the 11 goals, six have come in the Premier League and only one in the Europa League.

Maguire involved in heated exchange

In a related report, Harry Maguire had a heated confrontation with Christian Romero during and after the Europa League final.

The two were at it the entire game as Manchester United unsuccessfully tried to get back into the game.

They were separated by their teammates and staff after the final whistle.
