Newlywed couple die in accident
Stories about couples perishing in tragic accidents have been on the rise of late. In March, a Nigerian couple died just three weeks after they tied the knot in a colourful wedding on February 25.
The couple's lives were cut short on March 11 after a truck exploded near their car on a highway.
Cheodozie Okoye, a banker, and Joan, a nurse in the US who had flown home for the wedding, died at the accident scene.
Photos and videos from the couple's funeral showing emotional family members, friends, and relatives crying uncontrollably broke hearts. Some hugged the caskets carrying the lovebirds' bodies, wailing as they were comforted.
Another couple dies in tragic road accident days before wedding
In a similar story, a Louisiana couple perished in grisly road accidents just two hours apart.
Alexus Lee, 25, and her 35-year-old fiancé, John JR Collins, died a few days before their wedding.
According to the Louisiana State Police, Alexus was driving north near Lemon Road in Zachary when her car swerved out of control, slamming into a culvert before flipping over. She died on the spot.
Collins, who was rushing to the scene of the accident, lost control while trying to negotiate a curve and hit a tree, dying instantly. The couple was engaged in June 2024 and is survived by a four-year-old boy.
