Kelvin Kamau Wandina was reported missing on June 22, shortly after attending a church service in his home area.
The family filed a missing person report at the local police station and immediately launched search efforts to find him.
They were left devastated and in agony, wondering what could have happened to him, as he had just returned home for the half-term break.
Where was Kelvin Kamau found?
The Form Four student at Kianyaga Boys High School was found on Saturday, June 28, at 3 am in Meru.
Deniss Wambugu, a family member, told TUKO.co.ke that Kamau contacted his family asking for money.
Wambugu noted that the young man was misled by his friends and ran away from home.
"We found him in Meru, after he contacted me to help him with money, so we made a low-key plan to get him at the next stop or the lorry he was in. He was just confused by his friends," he shared.
Kelvin was found safe and sound and is currently under the care and warmth of his family members.
In a notice seeking help to find Kelvin, his family had described him as a light that shines brightly in their home.
They expressed fear following the rise in teenage disappearances and sought help from Kenyans online to trace the young man’s whereabouts.
“To whoever has Kelvin Kamau Wandina, please, I beg you from the depths of my heart, let him come home and reunite with his loved ones. He is a son and a brother, and his disappearance has shattered our home,” read the notice.
