The deceased father, identified as Samson Ogembo, had gone to pick up his Grade Seven daughter from school when a tragic accident occurred, claiming both their lives.

They died on the spot, and their bodies were taken to a mortuary in Kisii.

“He had gone to bring her home. He was the sole breadwinner for his entire family, including his wife, children, and his mother, who is a widow. His firstborn is in Form Four, another child is in PP1, and the youngest is still a toddler,” said one of the relatives.

The family has appealed to local leaders for support in educating the children left behind, as their only provider is now gone.

“We hope our leaders can step in and help these children so that they may uplift their home in future,” said a neighbour.

In a video by Kisii TV, the deceased man's wife, Elizabeth Kemunto, is heard weeping, saying her husband has left her with three children and no means of raising them.

Villagers gathered at the family home to offer comfort, with many sharing in the deep sorrow of losing two loved ones at once.
