Nosim, a photographer, lives on the third floor of her Jamhuri Estate apartment, and revealed that the incident happened a few days ago.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, she disclosed that she left the house for a moment and was to return in a few minutes, and she thus did not lock up.

"As you saw in the video, he broke into the house just minutes after we stepped out. I think he was listening to us as we went down the stairs. My studio is downstairs, and so I knew I would be back to the house in a moment," she said.

The mother said that while going downstairs, she spotted the burglar standing by a neighbour's door, but she did not give it much thought.

"I knew that this person was not a resident here in our apartment, but I did not give it much thought. I went downstairs, then returned. I was shocked when I found the door open and my work laptop missing," she narrated.

What did home CCTV capture?

Checking her home CCTV footage, she discovered that the man she had spotted earlier on the premises was the suspect.

"I was so shocked because at first I did not understand why my laptop was missing, yet I was just out of the house for a moment. I checked the cameras and it dawned on me that the man I had spotted earlier was a burglar," she narrated.

Nosim was left stranded since the work laptop had all the photos from the recent shoots she had undertaken.

"He even stole the memory card. Now my clients are confused and disappointed because all the snaps I had taken are gone. That is why I am appealing for help to find him and recover my tools of trade," she said, adding that she is thankful that everyone in her family is safe despite the incident.

It also emerged that the thug had tried to steal the building's pump.

The young mother said the intruder seemed familiar with the building, as he knew the spots he could hide at when he realised she was going back to the house.

"We suspect that he is probably one of the garbage guys who come here because he seemed to know the premises very well," she added.

She is pleading for any information on his whereabouts.

Netizens react to viral break-in

The viral video sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with many claiming to know who the mysterious thug is.

Others agreed that it is high time to keep garbage collectors from the precincts of buildings to enhance security in Nairobi's residential apartments.

Nairobi woman's home CCTV goes viral

In a separate incident, a home CCTV footage also went viral online after it captured a hilarious moment between a househelp and the boss.

The househelp was in the process of cleaning up the house when she picked up a sofa, hoping to move it.

She fell with it, and instead of helping her, her boss broke into laughter. The video went viral, with many wondering why the employer did not help her out.
