"The dad was the one paying school fees and buying food. Her mum is bedridden and can’t do anything. During the burial, many people promised to pay her fees and cater for all expenses. But immediately after the burial, none of them were to be seen.

Well-wishers eventually paid this young lady’s school fees. Hugs, dear—work hard now and make your mom proud. If you know you can’t fulfill what you say at funerals, please just keep quiet. This was painful. May God help this family," read a post on Facebook.

Which school does Kwamboka attend?

Kwamboka emotionally narrated how she found out about her father's death, which left her and her mother in unimaginable pain.

In her school uniform, the Form Three student at Moi Nyabohanse Girls High School vividly recalled the fateful day her brother discovered their father's body.

"He ran to where dad was breaking stones. When he didn’t find him there, he looked inside a cave and found him. A stone had fallen on him. His head was badly injured—there was no skull," she recounted.

She visited the accident scene, remembering the day she heard about her beloved father's death.

Kwamboka devastated by fake promises

She said that although many people had promised to help during the funeral, no one followed through afterwards.

"They promised to pay my school fees. Others vowed to clear the balance so I could continue my studies, but nothing materialised. Everyone just went back home after the burial," she said, tears welling up in her eyes.

She also recalled being sent home over unpaid school fees by a principal who allegedly did not want to hear any "excuses."

Kwamboka tried to explain her situation after her father's death, but the principal reportedly refused to listen.
