Area residents noted a surge in incidents involving suspects disguised in police uniforms entering homes and stealing from people.
“These are the same people. They always wear police uniforms, so you wonder whether they are thieves or genuine police officers,” said Jonah Kiteti, chairman of the businessmen in Mukuyuni.
The family of the deceased has asked the government to urgently look into the matter and ensure justice is served.
They appealed to the relevant authorities to take a keen interest in the case and bring the suspects to justice.

Julia Safari emotionally said her husband, Zebedayo Safari, a DCI officer, was hacked to death by unknown assailants at home.
His lifeless body was allegedly found in the compound by his devastated wife.
She recounted the distressing moment she found her husband's body at the front door late at night.
It was about 11 p.m. when Julia started getting worried that her husband had not returned home from watching soccer.
She called the joint where her husband had gone to watch a football match — a place they owned as a couple.
