Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Nairobi: President William Ruto has amused Kenyans online after he led residents of Mukuru Kwa Njenga in singing a gospel song at the unveiling of the Affordable Housing Project.

How did Mukuru residents react to houses?
In a video shared by Phillip Etale, Ruto is seen standing on stage at the common ground of the apartments, while other people are leaning on the rails of the various floors
He started singing a common chorus to the effect that God had helped them complete the project.
"Amenitendea Emmanueli amenitendea (he has done for me," he said.
What are features of Mukuru houses?
Vinnie Chipukeezy posted a video showing completed housing units in Mukuru and among the most outstanding recreational features were a basketball court and a playground.
The two suggested a focus on community living
The clip sparked mixed reactions, with a section of Kenyans questioning the transparency and affordability of the process. Others praised the project's design and scale.

How will Ruto address housing deficit?
Earlier, the Kenya Kwanza administration announced plans to reduce the two million housing deficit in Kenya.
According to the president, the project will see over one million units built by 2027. Additionally, the project created employment and Kenyans were empowered economically.
Income generation continued in areas where the project started and continued to record economic developments.

Mukuru Kwa Njenga woman moves to studio apartment
In another story, Maximilian Kamotho, aka Mama Joan who used to live in a tiny, two-room structure made of iron sheets finally moved to a studio apartment and documented it.
Mama Joan lived in Mukuru Kwa Njenga for 17 years and she revealed that for years, life in the makeshift home had been a daily battle against insecurity, fire, floods and disease.
Her life has since changed forever as she is now living in a studio apartment.
Mama Joan is now an owner of a studio apartment at the Mukuru Met Site Social Housing Project.
