He was in a matatu on his way home when the altercation occurred, and the driver allegedly took him to the police station.

"I was in the car heading home from school. I was telling stories with my friends. Suddenly, an elderly man started accusing us of having bad habits. He said I was a bully and took me to Kizingo Police Station.
They did not allow me to call my parents. They beat me on my legs, and now I cannot walk. I cannot go to school," Baya said.

Baya's mum asks government to grant her justice

His mother was deeply devastated as she opened up about her son's injuries and appealed for intervention.

"The child was injured on the thighs to the point that blood had clotted. They beat him thoroughly on the head. He could not even walk. When we returned to the police station, they kept taking us in circles, as if they didn’t want to give us justice.
However, in the end, they wrote for us the OB (Occurrence Book) number and gave it to us. What surprised us was that the person who took my child to the police station seemed to have a rapport with the officer— and that’s why the officer punished my child," she said.

Baya's mother asked the government to intervene on behalf of her Form Three child and ensure justice is served.

MMU student tortured by police officers

In another story, a helpless Multimedia University (MMU) student was tortured by police officers.

Trevor Mureithi, a student in the Faculty of Media and Communication, found himself at the centre of an aggressive confrontation with police officers.

He sustained severe injuries and now suffers traumatic memories due to police brutality.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, Mureithi recounted being in his hostel when a teargas canister was thrown into his room.

As he and others fled for safety, he unfortunately fell into a ditch and injured his leg. Despite the injury, the police beat him mercilessly.

When he told them he couldn't walk, they cruelly dragged him, leaving him in severe pain.

One officer even threw a teargas canister near his head in an apparent attempt to "teach him a lesson."

The police continued to harass him, kicking and punching him as they told him to face his fate.
