Narok: Grieving Dad Speaks after Son Set to Graduate Dies in Kilgoris Clashes

Isaiah Ng’etich lost his life while on his way from the farm, as he tried to make sense of the chaos unfolding in his village.
Unfortunately, Ng’etich was one of the five people confirmed dead after allegedly being shot by police officers during running battles between the authorities and locals over a 6,500-acre piece of land.
Citizen TV reported that Ng’etich was a student at Eldoret Polytechnic and was set to graduate this year.
The fatal incident, which left several other villagers injured, occurred on April 28.
Narok dad speaks after son is killed
The young man’s father condemned the killings of innocent people, especially the youth, noting that it was deeply wrong.
“They should not be forcing issues through other people’s deaths. It is not a very good show,” he stated.
His close friend, Elkana Lang’at, expressed his anger and pain, demanding justice for the innocent life lost.
“I am devastated. If we do not get justice here on Earth, God above will grant us justice,. He was supposed to finish school and change give back to his family and home,” he said.
Annah Tanui, one of the residents, stated that they were born and raised in Ang'ata Barikoi and had lived on the land all their lives.
“We have lost sons, fathers, and children here due to the clashes. The government should give us justice,” she said.

In a nearby village, a 15-year-old boy, identified as Gideon Kipkorir, was also shot dead, leaving his family in deep grief.
His father, John Kirui, noted that the teenager had lain down when he heard gunshots, but still ended up dead.
“He was down, but when he raised his head a bit, he was shot dead,” said Kirui.
Kilgoris Member of Parliament, Sunkuli Julius, stated that the relevant authorities would look into the matter and ensure the bereaved families received justice for their kin.
“We are currently working on burial plans for all who died, then later we will follow up on ensuring justice is served,” he said.
Police officers transferred after Ang’ata Barikoi killings
In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported that Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, held a meeting with security personnel following the shooting of civilians in Angata Barikoi.
The Police IG assessed the security situation in the region after the deadly clashes, which also left many villagers injured. He apologised for the force used by police to disperse protesters.
He expressed his sympathies to those affected and ordered the immediate transfer of senior security officers in the area.
