How did Kenyans help Aluoch, Joyce?
Aluoch, who was a Form Three student at the Alliance Girls High School, died after she got involved in a boiler accident while holidaying with her dear mum in Diani, Kwale county.
The two were airlifted to Nairobi and taken to Kenyatta National Hospital, where doctors fought tooth and nail to save their lives. Sadly, Aluoch died while her mother is recuperating in the hospital.
The treatment for the two and the burial plans were estimated at KSh 10 million, and Kenyans led by the Lavington SDA Church, raised the amount and kept on ensuring that the two were on treatment.

Why did Aluoch's mum skip the burial?
As mourners gathered in Migori county for the burial ceremony, Aluoch's mother was sadly not present as she was still unwell and stuck in the hospital.
She, however, shared a very beautiful tribute for her child, who used to take care of her and with whom they had been living since other members of their nuclear family were dead.
There was a sombre mood when the body of the young girl was taken to the home, and an aunt said the family was shocked and in a lot of pain.
"Many things have been said about us and sometimes they say we have snakes in our home. Death is everywhere; we are God-fearing and go to church and are Catholic," said Aluoch's uncle.
"We only ask for prayers because there is power in prayer," he added.
How did Alliance Girls students mourn schoolmate's death
Deputy Principal Faith Njuguna led a group of girls in mourning the departed girl, saying there is a season for everything.
"We love Aluoch and also the mother in hospital and we will continue supporting her," she said.
"It is funny that at the hospital, Aluoch kept consoling us saying that it would be okay. She was smart and goofy and always gave people nicknames. I will miss her smile and friendship," she added.

Enhancing safety of students
While Georgina's death has broken the hearts of many, it also reminded many Kenyans of the discussions about the safety of students while in and out of school.
Her story has particularly highlighted the importance of enhancing safety of students during school breaks.
A while back, education stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, emphasised the importance of student safety during school breaks.
It urged schools to implement measures that ensure students' well-being during holidays.
During school holidays, parents were encouraged to monitor their children closely to prevent engagement in hazardous activities that may put them in harm's way.
According to the Kenya News Agency, Kwale governor Fatuma Achani is also on the record, advising parents to keep close watch on their children during the then October to January long holiday.
Pastor recounts final moments of Georgina Aluoch
In another story, a pastor at Aluoch's church said that when she was breathing her last, she was singing praise and worship songs.
Samuel Kariba, her pastor, was speaking at a moving funeral service that took place at Lavington Seventh-day Adventist Church; Aluoch and her mother fellowshipped there.
Kariba narrated how Aluoch, even in her pain, spent her final moments on earth, depicting her unwavering faith.
Racheal Nyaguthie, HoD Human Interest, contributed to this article by adding details on student safety.
