Social media reactions

MUGO Karanja:

"This reminds me of one day around 2014. I met a Town Ace that was almost veering into the river at the corner of a slip road connecting the Jacaranda Northern bypass and Kamiti Road. There were 3 drunk police officers from a nearby police station. I had to rescue and drive them back to the station."

Sam Kariuki:

"This reminds me of the day I saw a drunk police officer along Thika Road on Sunday at 8 pm, yet they arrest people and preach don't drink and drive. This is Kenya, where all the dramas happen."

Kamwaro Mike

"Maybe he wasn't drunk. He was just fatigued and slept off, therefore losing control. Let's not always rush to judge."

Motorists using the busy highway have been urged to exercise caution, especially in areas prone to sharp bends and poor visibility.

The incident adds to a growing list of road-related mishaps reported on Kenyan roads in recent weeks.

According to a report filed at Kirwara Police Station under OB No. 10/01/01/2025, the deceased was Corporal James Mang’ulia Mutunga of the NCTPU Sector 10 Headquarters.

Details indicate that the officer had stopped by to assist a stalled tuk-tuk rider when the vehicle swept him and the stranded driver off the road.

Corporal Mutunga was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Thika Level 5 Hospital, while the tuk-tuk driver was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
