Mombasa: The Mikindani Primary School has been thrown into mourning after a bus carrying pupils was involved in a grisly accident along the Taita Taveta-Mombasa Highway.

The accident caused the death of one of the school teachers. Twelve pupils who were also inside the bus sustained injuries.

According to a report from the school, 10 pupils sustained minor injuries while two others sustained serious injuries.

What caused Mikindani school bus accident?

The pupils and teacher were being ferried in a bus belonging to Kajembe High School when it reportedly experienced a tyre burst before it lost control.

The fatal incident that occurred in the Masai area happened when the teacher and pupils were coming from the music and drama competition at the Kenyatta School in Voi, Taita Taveta county.

The Jomvu Member of Parliament, Badi Twalib, confirmed the incident, stating that the Mikindani Primary School pupils had just performed their piece when the deadly incident happened.

He affirmed his commitment to ensuring that the pupils and the families affected are provided with all the psychological help for a speedy recovery.

The incident happened on Thursday evening, July 3.

Moi University crashes along Kisumu Bondo Road

The accident comes days after a bus carrying Moi University students was involved in a grisly accident.

The accident occurred at the Namba Kapiyo area along the Kisumu-Bondo Highway on Tuesday, June 17.

The bus was ferrying fourth-year students from the School of Arts and Social Science on an academic field trip in the Nyanza region.

The fatal crash involved the Moi University bus, a Toyota Fortuner registered under the Siaya county government and a Toyota Noah belonging to a clergyman.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the Moi University Students Organisation secretary-general Edwin Lagat confirmed the fatal incident.

Lagat stated that the institution had coordinated necessary logistics and support for the affected students

The Nyanza Regional Traffic Commander, Peter Maina, gave further details regarding the accident, stating that it happened when the Toyota Noah belonging to preacher Gilbert Deya lost control and crashed into the university bus.

Deya was known for his claims that he could make sterile women become pregnant through prayers.
