According to a statement issued by the Mandera governor, Mohamed Adan Khalif, Abdirahman who was the former county chief officer for medical services was later found unconscious and critically injured on Friday morning, June 13.

The governor further condemned the abduction while calling on the Isiolo county leadership to exercise tolerance to de-escalate tensions.

"I condemn, in the strongest terms possible, the recent abduction of former Isiolo county chief officer for Medical Services, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed. In light of this ugly incident, there is an urgent need for the leadership of Isiolo to observe political tolerance," Khalif's statement read in part.

He further called upon relevant security agencies to carry out thorough investigations to bring the perpetrators behind the abduction to book.

"We also call upon the relevant security agencies to expedite investigations into this abduction and other reported disappearances. We remain deeply concerned about such unlawful acts and wish Mr. Abdirahman a swift and full recovery," the governor added.

Abdirahman's alleged abduction came at a time when there were attempts to remove Isiolo governor Abdi Guyo, from office.

Was Abdirahman tortured?

While speaking from his bed at one of the hospitals in Nairobi, Abdirahman stated that he was allegedly abducted by four men who took him to Ruai.

At one point, the former county official became emotional when he explained how the men approached him with big rungus.

"I don't know why that kind of violence was orchestrated against me...They left me for dead. It is very wrong, it is impunity of the highest order. I don't even know when they left. I found myself nimelala huko," he stated.

While holding a bouquet, he stated that his experience would be hard for him to forget.

He narrated that his alleged abduction happened while he was on his way from the Full Gospel Church, where he had attended a church service.

The legislator added that the thugs got gold from him blind blindfolded him, and forced him to sniff an unknown drug that made him unconscious before bending him into a waiting vehicle.

He refuted the National Police Service's claims that he had staged his abduction.
