Makueni: A tragic incident has occurred in Mukaa, where a middle-aged man allegedly killed his father-in-law and seriously injured his estranged wife in a brutal domestic attack in the Kiou area, Wathini sub-location.

Confirming the incident, Mukaa Deputy County Commissioner Buxton Mayabi said the suspect, armed with a machete, trailed his wife whom he had separated from, to her home.
As Citizen Digital reported, the suspect attacked his wife, inflicting multiple injuries. When her father tried to intervene, the suspect turned on him and fatally assaulted him.

The father-in-law was rushed to Sultan Hamud Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. The woman was also admitted to the same facility and is reported to be in stable condition.
Following the attack, the suspect fled but later surrendered at Sultan Hamud Police Station. He is currently in custody as police continue with investigations into the incident.
The body of the deceased was transferred to the Sultan Hamud Hospital morgue for postmortem and other necessary procedures.
Meanwhile, Mayabi urged residents to resolve domestic conflicts through peaceful and lawful means, warning against resorting to violence.
Couple arraigned over deaths of 9 family members
Additionally, the media reported that a couple was arraigned in connection with a tragic fire that claimed the lives of nine family members in Upanda village, Siaya county.
Christopher Owino and his wife, Roseline Atieno, appeared before Justice David Kemei on Monday, May 27, facing nine counts of murder.

The victims included Ouma Opondo Adalla, his wife Jacinta Anyango, and their seven children aged between six months and 17 years.
All the nine victims were laid to rest on May 9 amid emotional scenes, with relatives demanding justice and swift legal action.
During the court hearing, the couple denied all charges and, through their lawyer, applied for cash bail of KSh 500,000, promising to adhere to all court conditions.
Justice Kemei scheduled June 9, 2025, to deliver a ruling on the bail request.
Missing Nyeri girl found dead, buried under suspect's bed
In other news, the search for Baby Tamara, who was reported missing over the weekend, ended in tragedy after the young girl was found murdered and buried under a bed in a house in Majengo, Nyeri Town.
Tamara was last seen at the New Open Air Market near the Nyeri Town stage, dressed in a brown sweater and maroon trousers.
Her disappearance sparked a widespread public appeal as family members and concerned residents pleaded for help locating her.
The suspect, a well-known porter (beba beba) in the area, was arrested and is currently in custody at Nyeri Police Station.
The grim discovery has left the Nyeri community in shock and mourning, with residents expressing grief and outrage over the brutal killing of the innocent child.
