Elgeyo Marakwet: Suspected armed men have fatally shot a Catholic priest, Father Allois Cheruiyot Bett, in the volatile Tot area of Kerio Valley.

The tragic Thursday, May 22, incident occurred while the priest was reportedly on his way to conduct a church service, according to Elgeyo Marakwet county Police Commander Peter Mulinge.

Before his recent posting to the newly established Tot Parish, Father Bett served at Nerkwo Parish.

The National Police Service has condemned the killing and assured the public of a thorough and expedited investigation to bring all perpetrators to justice.
