Samuel Atandi Consoles Family of Kenyan Pilot Whose Plane Was Shot Down in Sudan

MP Samuel Atandi has condoled with the family of the fallen pilot whose plane was shot down in Sudan.

Atandi shared photos from Central Alego, where he condoled with the late pilot's family.

In one of the photos, he was seen shaking hands with Nyamodi's brother, advocate Paul Nyamodi.

In another, he was seated with the family of the late pilot in their living room.

He revealed that his visit coincided with the burial ceremony of the late pilot.

Atandi wrote:

"This afternoon, I condoled with and registered my sympathies to bereaved constituents in the constituency. I visited the Nyamodi family at their home in Oware Sirongo Village, Kakumu Kombewa Sublocation in Central Alego Ward, during the burial ceremony of their son, Mr George Nyamodi."

A flyer announcing the pilot’s death revealed that he was an orphan.

He had three siblings: two brothers and two sisters in the family.

Part of it read:

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Captain George Nyamodi on Friday, 2nd May 2025. George is the beloved son of the Late Dr Zacharia Nyamodi and the Late Veronica Nyamodi of Sirongo village, Alego. He is the brother of Paul Nyamodi, Elizabeth Nyamodi, and Brenda Nyamodi."

Prayer meetings were being held at the All Saints Cathedral Church.

The family had promised to announce the burial arrangements later on.

"Prayer meetings will be held on Wednesday, May 7, and Friday, May 9, at All Saints Cathedral Church from 5:00 p.m. Funeral and burial arrangements will be announced in due course. In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our beloved George. In this life you embraced him with your tender love; deliver him now from every evil and bid him eternal rest. Fly higher with the angels, Georgie."

What happened to Captain George Nyamodi?

On the day the catastrophe hit, Nyamodi was preparing to arrive at Nyala Airport in Darfur, a suspected artillery shell launched by the Sudanese army damaged the cargo plane.

One of the groups engaged in the civil conflict in Sudan, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) rules over the area.

At a requiem mass at St. Francis Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Nyamodi’s daughter wept deeply.

What was George Nyamodi's final message?

His sister Kadogo had texted him at 5 a.m., and he reassured her.

According to the sources, the family was close-knit, and they fondly referred to him as Georgie.
