An elderly woman who was President William Ruto's chief campaigner has revealed that the head of state honoured her with a house.

Cucu Wa Gikandu, whose real name is Margaret Njambi, went viral in 2021 after she met with Ruto, who was then the second in command.
"Interacted with former quarry worker turned small-scale farmer Margaret Njambi after her video went viral during a Kiharu development meeting where she expressed her interest to meet the deputy president_macho kwa macho (in person)," Ruto tweeted after hosting her.

In an interview on Oga Obinna's show, Cucu wa Gikandu said Ruto improved her living standard by building her a house.

"He built me a stone house. Before that, I was staying in a dilapidated mud house where even dogs could see through," she said.
Asked why Ruto built her house, she responded:
"I was his chief campaigner. Myself and Ndindi Nyoro. We loved him so much..."

She also took the blame off Ruto and explained that the people around him are not taking his orders. Therefore, tarnishing his name.
"He is not a bad person. You know, if you have people around you and they don't do what you are telling them. They are doing awkward things, what can you do?" she added.
Cucu wa Gikandu revealed that a good Samaritan visited her and bought her house items, including furniture.
"They didn't buy me house items after building, but there is God in heaven. After building, somebody emerged and furnished it," she continued.
She complained that the only key item lacking in her house is a cupboard.
"The only missing item for the house to be complete is a cupboard. Seats are there. I can't lie," she said.
Fortunately, Obinna agreed to buy her KSh 20,000 cupboard after she quoted the price and this left her excited.

In a separate story, a woman, believed to be in her 40s and of Kalenjin descent, broke down in tears as she expressed her deep disappointment over the country's soaring cost of living.
The woman, hailing from Nandi county, shared her frustrations on behalf of her community, which had placed their trust in Ruto, hoping for the best.
Instead, she lamented the hardships that continue to plague Kenyans under his regime.
While acknowledging the challenges faced during previous administrations, including those of the late Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta, she described Ruto's presidency as the most difficult.
She expressed regret over supporting the Kenya Kwanza movement during the 2022 elections and humbly asked for forgiveness if her support had been misplaced.
