Ruto, Gachagua wear youthful outfits in renders

@drip.atlas used photo editing software to show Kenya's leading politicians looking much younger and wearing swanky outfits.

They included President William Ruto, former president Uhuru Kenyatta, former prime minister Raila Odinga, and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.

The first photo showed Gachagua, nicknamed Riggy G, wearing a blue Louis Vuitton beanie hat, a Burberry jacket, and ripped jeans. He completed the look with Timberland boots.

He had numerous chains and jewellery and held a wad of notes up to the camera.

Next up was Uhuru, who also held up wads of cash. He sported dreadlocks and rocked a white t-shirt, black trousers, and Yeezy slides.

Gachagua featured again, this time wearing a motorcycle jacket and rubber shoes.

Ruto, on the other hand, donned a red leather t-shirt and matching trousers, completing the look with white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.

Raila rocked baby locks, a polo shirt by Ralph Lauren, Timberland shoes, and blue denim shorts.

"Who rocked it the best? We rate the fits, not the policies,” the page posed.

The posts caused quite a buzz on social media, with Kenyans pointing out their favourite fit. Here are some of the reactions:

Expensive designer items William Ruto owns

The head of state is known for his expensive taste in fashion and has on several occasions been spotted rocking expensive designer items.

Ruti, who likes stylish kaunda suits, always accessorises his signature look with expensive watches whenever he steps out, leaving tongues wagging.

From shoes to watches to shirts, Ruto's expensive items have in the past rattled the internet.

Ruto has been photographed wearing a Stefano Ricci crocodile belt worth Ksh 425,000. In November 2023, a year after he was elected as the fifth president of Kenya, Ruto made headlines across the globe after attending church wearing a matted crocodile leather belt.

Photos showing him walking confidently in church with the expensive belt's logo popping saw him face backlash on social media.

On other occasions, he was spotted wearing a Stefano Ricci shirt worth KSh 190,000, Torino shirt worth KSh 194,000. The shirts are made of 93% silk and are manufactured in Italy.

Ruto has also been spotted wearing an A. Lange & Sohne Moon-phase watch worth KSh 4.7 million.

His other expensive items include Salvatore Ferragamo loafers worth Ksh. 128,000, Christian Louboutin shoes worth Ksh. 178,000 among others.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, renowned fashion stylist and image consultant Brian Mwenda weighed in on the viral trend.

Mwenda noted that this online phenomenon blends satire, style, and social commentary, capturing public attention in a way that traditional political discourse often fails to do. He emphasized how fashion has increasingly become a language of influence—even in politics.

“What @drip.atlas has done is more than just humor; it reflects how Gen Z uses fashion and memes to reinterpret leadership. It’s a powerful cultural statement. And with Ruto, for instance, his high-end wardrobe choices signal authority, status, and intentional brand positioning, whether or not the public agrees with it,” he opined.

In other news, a recently surfaced video online showed former president Uhuru enjoying a relaxed moment away from public life. The clip, taken at an undisclosed location, featured him seated outdoors with a group of people in what appeared to be a serene, gated community.

Uhuru, dressed casually in a blue shirt, dark pants, and a safari hat, was seen engaging in lively conversation with several middle-aged men. Nearby, younger guests and a separate group of women are also seen chatting and relaxing.

Plastic chairs and tables with refreshments suggest a casual gathering, possibly among friends or family. Although the exact date of the video remained unclear, some viewers speculate it was recorded last year.

The footage drew mixed reactions from Kenyans: while some expressed nostalgia and admiration for the former leader, others used the moment to reflect critically on his time in office and the legacy he left behind.

Caren Nyota, HoD Entertainment, added details of expensive designer items William Ruto owns.
