Did Senator Methu know Albert Ojwang?

In a strongly worded post on his social platforms, the legislator, who referred to Ojwang by the nickname Januzaj, said he was devastated to learn about the passing of someone he considered a schoolmate and friend.

"This is extremely sad. Januzaj, my schoolmate as we knew you, you weren't supposed to be killed by the very same people tasked with preserving your life," he wrote.

Methu did not hold back as he directly addressed President William Ruto and the National Police Service, questioning the growing number of questionable deaths in the country.

"William Samoei Ruto, how many... are enough? Just how many? NPS, Albert had never come close to a wall, until he got arrested? You want to fool everyone as you execute heartless orders? Pole sana wazazi wa Albert," his post continued.

Ojwang died on June 8, shortly after being arrested in Homabay and transferred to the Nairobi Central Police Station.

Authorities had allegedly accused him of publishing false information via his social media platforms.

His death has sparked widespread outrage online, with many Kenyans demanding answers and accountability.

In a statement issued by the National Police Service, authorities confirmed Ojwang’s arrest and booking at the station.

However, they seemingly denied claims that he died in custody. Instead, the statement alleged that Ojwang injured himself by hitting his head against the wall of his cell, and was later pronounced dead at Mbagathi Hospital.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has since launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Did Ojwang fear for his life?

In a related development, an audio recording of a phone conversation between Ojwang and a friend has surfaced online, revealing his fear and anxiety while being transported to custody.

During the call, Ojwang mentioned he was heading to Central Police Station, his voice reflecting clear unease.

His friend on the other end offered words of comfort and promised to visit him the following morning, but that visit never happened as Ojwang passed away while still in custody.
