Eric Omondi Launches Search for Man Whose Baby Died after Doctors Allegedly Failed to Act on Time

Comedian-turned-human rights activist Eric Omondi is urgently searching for a man whose grandson reportedly died after medical staff allegedly failed to attend to him at Igegania Level 4 Hospital in Gatundu.

Eric took to social media on Tuesday, May 28, sharing a heart-wrenching video of a distraught man locked in a scuffle while clutching the lifeless body of his grand son.

The blurry clip shows the father furiously confronting a man believed to be a security guard at the hospital, accusing him and the institution of negligence.

In the video, the grieving man can be heard shouting in Kikuyu:

"Mtoto amekufa. Since morning you have been here. He died when you were here. Get away from me because when he died you were here!"

As he wailed and threw punches, bystanders attempted to restrain him.

Despite the chaos, the man never let go of the child in his arms, a gesture that deeply moved Eric and many Kenyans who saw the video online.

Preliminary reports allege that the child may have died due to delays in treatment, as doctors at the hospital are said to be on strike.

Eric, visibly shaken by the clip, called on Kenyans to help him locate the grieving man so he could offer support.

"This is the saddest and most painful thing you can see... A father carrying the lifeless body of his son because of failed systems," he wrote.

He continued:

"I am urgently looking for this man. If you know him, please DM me his number. Let’s try and ease his pain. Too many politicians, zero leaders... lakini ipo siku!"
