According to the Wednesday, May 28, Daily Nation, the police instituted disciplinary action against the musician over his recent concert in which he is said to have participated in what is believed to be mocking President William Ruto.
Did Samidoh lead political chants?
Samidoh had been accused of joining and leading chants of "wantam," meaning "one term," a slogan used by opponents of Ruto who are determined to prevent his re-election in 2027.
According to the report by the Nation, senior officers at the NPS have decided to transfer Samidoh from the Central Region Police Headquarters to the Administration Police’s Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) in Gilgil.
Kenya’s police service guidelines prohibit officers from engaging in political activities, requiring them to remain apolitical and loyal to the government of the day. Based on a recent clip, Samidoh is reportedly accused of violating the Service Standing Orders (SSO).
In addition to the transfer, Samidoh is allegedly expected to undergo disciplinary investigations, which could result in various consequences, including dismissal, demotion, fines, or warnings.

Why was Samidoh transferred to ASTU in Gilgil?
On the evening of Wednesday, May 28, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, speaking to the press, shared the reason why the musician-turned-policeman was transferred.
Kanja said the police service, just like other government institutions, redeploys officers who are civil servants for valid reasons. The police boss did not delve into details of the singer's case, leaving the public with wild speculations.
Kanja's statement elicited mixed reactions, with a section of netizens advising musicians and other celebrities to stay away from politics.
Samidoh's redeployment comes barely a week after he and other musicians from the Mount Kenya region were slammed by their supporters for allegedly being in bed with the government.
Several musicians who visited Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's house lost quite a number of followers on social media, forcing a few to apologise publicly. Among the artistes who accompanied Samidoh to Karen include Ben Githae, Karangu Muraya, Martin wa Janet and Ruth wa Mum.
Samidoh praises Rigathi Gachagua
A few days ago, the singer sparked buzz after his performance in Rongai took an unexpected political turn.
Midway through his set, Samidoh paused to freestyle a funny yet pointed verse praising former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
Singing in Kikuyu, he highlighted Gachagua’s resilience, courage, and leadership.
His praise sparked widespread reactions online, especially since it came just days after he was seen at Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s residence with other musicians.
Caren Nyota, HoD Entertainment, added details on why Samidoh was transferred to ASTU in Gilgil.
