Kenya's top athlete, John Korir, is happy chirpy after gifting himself a luxury car following his impressive victory at the 2025 Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21.

How John Korir dominated Boston Marathon

Korir's win in the highly competitive men's race was no surprise to fans and experts alike.

The field featured heavyweights such as defending champion Sisay Lemma and two-time Boston winner Evans Chebet.

Other notable contenders included Cybrian Kotut and Haymanot Alew, who placed second and third, respectively at the previous year's Berlin Marathon.

Coming off a stellar win at the Chicago Marathon, Korir entered Boston as one of the fastest men globally, and he lived up to expectations by leading the race with confidence and stamina.

John Korir excited as he buys Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

About a month after his victory, Korir visited the renowned Nairobi dealership Car Soko to buy himself a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado as a token of appreciation for his hard work.

TUKO.co.ke established that the vehicle, a 2018 model with a 2800cc diesel engine, is valued at around KSh 8 million.

A video from the dealership captured the moment Korir received the sleek white Prado, adorned with a red ribbon draped over the windscreen and bonnet.

Car Soko's sales representative Patrick Riang'a warmly welcomed Korir and congratulated him on his win.

"I'm here with the Boson Marathon 2025 winner. Welcome Korir," Patrick said.

Korir's reaction after buying car

When asked about the race, Korir excitedly said:

"It was okay, I looked back and saw nobody close to me," which left Patrick in stitches.

Patrick called Korir's new purchase "a mzinga", to which Korir responded with gratitude.

“I have bought a mzinga here, and thank you to Car Soko and Patrick for selling me this good car. My message to athletes out there; visit Car Soko, there are clean goods. You will love them,” Korir said.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Patrick expressed his excitement about having the chance to serve a marathon champion:

"I'm so proud to have done business with the Boston Marathon champion. I am happy for him. Let him enjoy his hard work,” Patrick shared.

Did Wesley Korir throw party for John?

In October 2024, former Cherangany MP Wesley Korir expressed immense pride in his celebrated brother, John Korir.

Wesley was overjoyed after John secured victory at the 2024 Chicago Marathon.

The talented athlete delivered a commanding performance, claiming his first major marathon title.

Following this impressive win in the US, Wesley and John reunited to celebrate the achievement.

Wesley, a 2012 Boston Marathon champion, shared joyful moments with his younger brother.
