David Ndii Defends Himself after Leaking DMs with Jerotich Seii: "Ndemi date"

  • David Ndii tried to expose Jerotich Seii for begging the government for a job through him but it ended up backfiring on him
  • The economist's leaked DMs showed he was being invited for a date and he quickly clarified that his wife was also invited
  • However, Kenyans took the opportunity to blast Ndii for exposing outdated DMs, and defended Seii, saying she had every right to ask for a job

Popular economist David Ndii has had to defend himself after initially leaking chats trying to blast another person over double standards.

While trying to expose activist Jerotish Seii, Ndii shared their DMs that Kenyans, being Kenyans, found something more interesting than just the back and forth between the two.

What is Ndemi date?

It all started when Seii shared a news excerpt of presidential aspirant Okiyah Omtatah exposing the rot in the Social Health Authority's system.

In her caption, she quoted Omtatah while calling out Ndii for being a disaster, which seems to have upset the 'uchumi man'.

"No number of explainers from @WilliamsRuto and his colossal disaster of an economic advisor Ndii, will pacify Kenyans. Tumechoka," she wrote.

Reacting to her post, Ndii decided to release 'receipts' that show Seii was very happy with the government in the past and this was merely resentment for failing to get her way into the ruling party.

In the leaked DMs from 2023, one could tell that Seii was asking to be considered to work in the energy sector as she had tried knocking on doors to offer her services to those in power.

She also reminded Ndii of a date they were to have at Ndemi Gardens, saying that it was still wide open.

As it is with KOX, they decided to create a narrative out of the text to mean Seii was inviting Ndii for a one-on-one date.

However, this was not the case and Ndii was forced to defend himself to avoid misinterpretation.

In a follow-up tweet, William Ruto's economic advisor clarified that the date was a business date and even his wife was invited.

"For what it’s worth, the “Ndemi date” was a lunch date and it was extended to me and my wife," he wrote.

Despite the clarification, Kenyans went on to taunt Ndii, claiming he was trying to neutralise the situation.

Here are a few reactions to the leaks.:

Kenyans slam David Ndii for defending SHA

This comes just days after Kenyans blasted Ndii for his defence of the SHA software system.

As reported by TUKO.co.ke, Ndii stated that the Integrated Healthcare Information Technology System procured from a Safaricom-led consortium would cost less annually than the previous National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Ndii explained that NHIF cost the government KSh 450 million every year but SHA would cost nearly half of this at KSh 230 million per year.

He added that the software will also include HMIS for 7000 plus public health facilities and data transmission services offered by Safaricom.

However, Kenyans were not convinced and demanded enough proof to show the numbers that were being peddled around.
