William Ruto Launches Construction of Narok International Airport: "Completed in 15 Months"

During his tour of Narok, the president presided over the groundbreaking ceremony, where the engineers explained that the airport would be constructed in several phases.

Apart from the essential terminals and runways, the airport will also include spaces for hangars, a flight school, and catering facilities.

"This facility has a huge economic potential in terms of opening up the area while at the same time opening up the Mara," said Engineer Ochieng.

What is the benefit of the Narok International Airport?

Through his X account, Ruto confirmed that he had launched the construction of the Narok International Airport, which is expected to be completed within 15 months.

"The construction of Narok International Airport will promote tourism by enhancing access and connectivity to the Maasai Mara. It will reduce aircraft landings and take-offs within the reserve, thereby supporting conservation efforts. The project will also create jobs and boost foreign exchange earnings," Ruto said on X.

What did Ruto do in Narok?

The president also opened Suswa Market and commissioned the Ewaso Ng’iro Tannery and Leather Factory, which is expected to strengthen the leather value chain via local processing.

"We are supporting and promoting the growth of small enterprises to spur trade, create jobs and unlock our traders’ potential across Kenya. In Narok County, opened the Suswa Modern Market, which is ready for use. The market is one of the first to be completed of the 260 currently under construction. Also opened the Ntulele Modern Market that has been completed and handed over. In total, we will build 400 markets nationally," Ruto announced on X.

The president also added many other development promises, including the construction of roads and the connection of thousands of residents to the electricity grid.

Kedong Ranch land handover

As reported on TUKO.co.ke, Ruto pledged to allocate an additional 6,000 acres of the disputed Kedong Ranch land to the Maasai community.

He promised that title deeds would be issued within a week upon receipt of the final list of beneficiaries.

He also announced the transfer of Mau Forest management to the Narok County Government and plans to fence the forest to prevent encroachment, aiming to address both land ownership tensions and environmental conservation.
