Career

After graduating from university, he worked as a taxi driver. During the post-election violence period, he borrowed a camera from his brother to capture the chaos as he was closer to the scene. At that particular time, the K24 crew was also trying to report the issue in Kibera, but due to the chaos, they lost their footage.

Things in his life turned when K24 management called him and asked for the footage. And that is how he got his media breakthrough. He worked for K24TV for three years and nine months. While at K24TV, he took on several roles and new assignments such as a brand anchor, business talk, News desk reporter, and talk show host.

In December 2012, Ken joined CCTV Africa as a reporter, where he covered various assignments like the Mpila military base explosion in Congo Brazzaville, the London conference in Somalia, and several others. After one year and three months, Ken left CCTV Africa and joined Nation Media Group as a senior reporter, where he worked for seven years.

One of his significant accomplishments at NTV is as a host for Sidebar. In this show, he will mostly be remembered for interviewing the deputy president of Kenya, Dr William Ruto, and asking serious questions.

It's easy to wonder whether or not Mijungu had the opportunity to practice law, mainly because he has a successful journalism career despite graduating with a law degree.

Well, while working as a journalist, Ken was only able to do legal consultation. However, his law degree made it possible for him to make money on the side, especially when he referred a client to a friend's law firm.

However, it looks like he will be a full-time lawyer because Ken unveiled his legal consultancy firm a few days after being fired. Ken Mijungu Law Consultancy offers services in legal matters, migration, finance, property, and imports and exports.
